Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Text Installation

Today we will proceed with installation of Linux operating system. I will start with version 6.0

I will show how to install RHEL(Red hat Enterprise Linux) 6.0 in Text Mode

I have configured the hardware with minimum memory 512MB as RHEL6 will identify it as out of memory and starts the text mode.

Download and Burn the ISO and boot the computer

Press the Tab Key

Enter the command as shown in picture to configure few basic things during installation like, resolution, ip, netmask, gateway etc.

Press Enter to proceed

Skip the CD Test or test it as per your wish

Press ok to proceed with the installation

Select the language 

Select the Keyboard Type

This might happen if your using a new scsi disk, you can select re-initialize all

Make sure system clock is set to UTC in bios before selecting option here, you need to do that before even you boot the hardware

Set a root password its very important

Select the partition type

Choose write changes to disk once you have decided

Watch the installation

Text mode doesn’t give the choice to select the package

Select reboot once its done

Login with root user name and password

You have successfully setup your first Linux machine
